Hi Steve,

Did you see the petition supporting Governor Dayton in his standoff with the GOP legislature over the budget? Check it out below—almost 5,000 MoveOn members in Minnesota have signed so far.

Dear Minnesota MoveOn member,

Governor Mark Dayton has proposed a fair, reasonable budget solution to Minnesota’s fiscal crisis. His solution is a compromise that includes both spending cuts and a tax increase for the top two percent of income earners. (They can afford it!)

Republicans are demanding only spending cuts with no tax increases. The cuts will hit hard on K-12 education and health care. This is blatantly unfair when other solutions are possible.

Gov. Dayton ought to stand firm on his position, even if it means a state government shutdown. If that happens, it will be the fault of Republicans, bending under the demands of greedy financial and corporate interests.

That’s why I created a petition to Gov. Dayton, which says:

“Gov. Dayton: Please stand firm on your budget position. Know that thousands of Minnesotans like us are supporting your stand. Thank you!”
