Since this is National School Choice, I’m offering up a five-minute interview of Jay P. Green by Nick Gillespie.

According to Green, there are two major benefits of school choice:

  1. We can customize education to meet the needs of children and parents.
  2. Through choice and competition, we keep costs under control and improve performance.

How much headway has the push for school choice made? A lot, says Greene, who focuses on opinions among political elites, who have started to accept school choice–as evidenced in the establishment of charter school laws across the nation as well as tax credits and other forms of school choice.

Greene also speaks about the political dynamics of creating new choice programs.
